Privacy Policy

General Relay (“we”, “us”) is operated by Lab 1908 LLC. This policy covers the General Relay web application at generalrelay.com and the General Relay Chrome extension.

We have tried to write this in plain English. If anything is unclear, email us.

What we collect

Account data

When you register: your email address, a bcrypt-hashed password, and a display name if you provide one. We use this to authenticate you.

Brand data you create

Anything you enter into the app: brand names, descriptions, knowledge documents, RSS feed URLs, engagement channel configuration, generated content, and drafts. This is your content; we store it so you can access it later.

Content you ask us to process

When you click GR Reply on a Reddit or X post in the Chrome extension, the extension sends us the post's title, body, URL, author handle, and subreddit (if applicable). We use this to generate a draft reply and store it in your engagement history. We do not read posts you haven't clicked on, and we do not track your browsing.

What the extension stores locally

In your browser's chrome.storage.local: your General Relay API key, the brand id you selected, and the most recent drafted reply (so the side panel isn't blank when reopened). Nothing else. You can clear this any time by removing the extension in chrome://extensions.

Usage telemetry

We record each AI call (model, token counts, timestamp, brand) against your account so you can see usage and we can enforce per-account limits. We do not use third-party analytics trackers.

How we use it

  • To provide the features you request (generate content, draft replies, scan feeds, etc.)
  • To authenticate you and scope data to your account and brands
  • To enforce per-account AI usage limits
  • To diagnose errors and improve the product

We do not sell your data, rent it, or share it with advertisers. We do not use your content to train AI models.

Subprocessors

We use a small number of trusted services to run General Relay. When you use the product, data flows through these providers:

  • Anthropic — text generation (Claude). Post content you submit for reply drafting, and your brand knowledge, is sent to Anthropic for inference. Anthropic does not train on API data by default.
  • OpenAI — image generation only. No post text or reply content is sent to OpenAI.
  • Turso — managed SQLite database where we store your accounts, brands, and generated content.
  • AWS (Lightsail + ECR) — hosts the web application.
  • Resend — transactional email (password resets only).

What we don't do

  • We don't read pages the extension isn't triggered on
  • We don't track your browsing history
  • We don't sell or share your content with third parties
  • We don't use your content to train AI models
  • We don't use advertising networks or behavioral analytics
  • We don't store your API keys in plaintext on our servers — they're SHA-256 hashed at rest

Your rights

  • Access & export — everything you've created is visible in-app. Email us if you need a bulk export.
  • Delete — you can delete brands, digests, engagement posts, and generated content directly in the app. To delete your entire account and all associated data, email us.
  • Revoke extension access — delete your API key at /settings/integrations and the extension immediately stops working. Local storage clears when you remove the extension.

Data retention

We keep your data as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your data within 30 days (some backups may persist up to 90 days for operational reasons, then they're overwritten).

Security

All traffic to generalrelay.com and our API is TLS-encrypted. API keys are SHA-256 hashed before storage. User passwords are bcrypt-hashed. Sessions use JWTs with a rotating secret. We don't claim perfect security — if we learn of a breach that affects your data, we'll email you within 72 hours.

Children

General Relay is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe we have, email us and we'll delete it.

Changes

If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the “Last updated” date and — for significant changes — email you. The current version is always at this URL.
